MICR (Magnetic Imaging Character Recognition) toner is special magnetic toner developed for the purpose of printing the special characters found on the bottom of checks.

If you wish to successfully print checks with your laser printer, you will need MICR toner.
It also works fine for other normal printing purposes but is not recommended for such use.
